Here’s my grandmother’s recipe for butter mints. They’re delicious and great for after-party mints:
3 tbsp. soft butter or margarine (easier to use)
¼ cup cream
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 tsp. peppermint
1 lb powdered sugar
Blend all ingredients. Knead. Color and form into balls, or put into mint molds. Press down. Refrigerate.
My mother uses this recipe for mints:
Cream Cheese Mints:
1 pound powdered sugar
¼ pound margarine or butter
4 ounces (1/4 pound) cream cheese
A few drops of milk (to make it mix better—use more if needed)
1 tsp peppermint (or more or less to taste—I also like plain mint, as well, or other flavorings instead)
Mix together (use your hands), shape (or put into molds), and refrigerate for 2 hours.
